Piper's dirk to the Royal Engineers. With tapering polished blade formed with a notched back-edge, stamped 'Peter Henderson, Glasgow' on one face. German silver hilt, basket weave carved grip. Leather-covered wooden scabbard with German silver mounts including the regimental device on the locket of the Royal Engineers. Hence it was associated with a pipe band raised by the Royal Engineers in Scotland, possibly the 71st Scottish Royal Engineers. Dirk: 24.5 cm. Blade: 9 5/8 inches. Very good condition.
